Viessmann system technology
All of our gas boilers meet the requirements demanded by efficient condensing technology, this means that 98 percent or more of the energy used is converted to heat. By choosing a Viessmann gas condensing boiler, you will be making a positive contribution to protecting the climate and the environment.
Designed to be futureproof, all Viessmann heating systems are compatible with a range of fuel sources, meaning you can use a solar thermal heating system in-conjunction with your gas boiler to provide domestic hot water backup and find yourself enjoying lower energy bills, whilst also making an even larger positive contribution towards protecting the climate and the environment.
Whilst the combustion controller featured within our Vitodens 200 range is designed to automatically adjust to various gas types, including biogas mixtures, meaning these heating systems are equipped to be used with sustainable fuels.
Viessmann renewable technologies
If the above was not enough, the Viessmann range of heating systems also features systems utilising fully renewable technologies. These include solar thermal systems to heat domestic hot water and provide central heating backup, plus biomass boiler options which utilise logs, woodchips and pellets to generate heat. We also offer a number of hybrid devices, including heat pumps which exploit heat from the ground, the groundwater and the ambient air.
Amongst our innovative technologies is the ice store system. Utilising energy from the air, the sun and the ground, the ice store system is an efficient alternative to geothermal probes and comprises of one or two ice storage tanks and the same number of solar air absorbers installed on the roof of the property.
Viessmann Ice Store System
Our solar ice store system works by using the solar air absorbers to draw heat from the ambient air during the day and transfer this to a heat pump. The ice store installed in the ground functions as a source of heat for the heat pump if there is insufficient thermal energy available from the solar air absorbers. It does this by extracting the thermal energy from the water until controlled freezing takes place at 0 °C. In doing this, the phase change will cause an ice store with a volume of 10 m³ to deliver the same amount of energy as 110 litres of fuel oil.
Whilst innovative technology such as the gas adsorption heating appliance used within our gas condensing boilers, reduces gas consumption by a further 25 percent compared to conventional condensing technology. This enables you to save fuel, reduce your emissions further and helps to make heating with gas even more efficient.
A simple but incredibly effective Viessmann technology is Weather Compensation, available with our Vitodens range of condensing boilers. Consisting of a simple outdoor sensor and Weather Compensation controls, our Weather Compensation technology harnesses the natural signals provided by the elements to adjust the temperature inside your home based on the temperature outside. Utilising this technology can assist you in saving up to 15% more fuel each year, whilst also ensuring a pleasant indoor temperature, whatever the weather.
The difference weather compensation makes
When the temperature changes outside the boiler responds and starts to increase or decrease the radiator temperature to compensate. This pro-active mechanism means that people inside the building won't even notice that the temperature has changed outside. For example, when the outside temperature drops at night, more heat is lost through the walls of the building. Because the outdoor sensor detects the fall as soon as it happens, the boiler is able to raise the radiator temperature and keep the inside temperature stable. With a conventional system, the temperature is dependent on a room thermostat, which will only take effect after the inside of the building has become too hot or too cold.
In summary, weather compensation controls enable the boiler to respond to outside temperature changes and adjust the radiator output, to maintain a constant temperature indoors.
The boiler flow diagram below helps to demonstrate how this compares to a heating system without weather compensation - where the boiler runs very hot then very cold as it constantly 'plays catch up' to achieve the desired room temperature.
